In the warmer months it seems like all of my clients want to shoot outside, which is great, because in Chicago when the cold hits it hits HARD. And it stays for a long time. So, when Harmonia wanted a studio branding shoot, I found myself buzzing with excitement. To be honest, I am in love with studio shoots.
Maybe it’s the controlled environment, the fact that we have complete power over everything that happens (no strangers wandering through the shoot). Or maybe it’s the magic that happens when I set up my lights, turn on the music, build the scene and then shoot. It’s exhilarating! I love the feeling that we can make anything happen in studio. Just writing about it makes me excited for my next studio shoot.
Harmonia is an artist. Her work is brilliant, intricate and completely awe-inspiring. In her own words,
“I believe in creating artwork with meaning–meaning with impact, moving people to see the world differently and to be guided by that new vision. Based in Chicago, my inspiration arises from living life as a woman of color. My art is born out of a combination of my love for history, thirst for endless new knowledge, and dedication to social action.” (via www.harmoniarosales.com)
She showed up and rocked her session like a pro! We listened to Cardi B and talked about art and motherhood. It was so much fun! Here are some of my favorite shots from her session. I could easily have posted them all, because I loved every single image.
And one behind the scenes shot, just for fun.
